A Poem I Wrote called ‘Band-Aid’

Below is a poem I wrote in August 2023. I subsequently converted the poem into lyrics of a demo song.

Some might say that contrarians are unnecessarily disruptive. I beg to differ. Here’s a poem where I assert my case.

BAND-AID

I was born without a filter
I declined to have one
Fitted since

While you refused
To mirror me, and that may be
At your or my peril

Who knows more
Who’s the poorer for
Your disdain for rhetoric

Filters are great for water
Surely not so for the flow
Of ideas

Some say a filter’s purpose
Is to save the word
From causing offence

May I suggest
You begin to grow
A crocodile skin

Though words may offend
Sitting silent on the fence
Contributes nothing

I think hurt serves as fuel
Growing tolerance
Even more

May I suggest
You begin to grow
A crocodile skin

Do I learn from my mistakes
More than U from watching mine
Or R our learnings just the same

I don’t think so
Learning needs a graze
You need skin in the game

May I suggest
You begin to grow
A crocodile skin
